Donna Keathley, a 65-year-old woman from Evart in Osceola County, won $412,171 playing The Jack, an add-on game for Michigan Lottery’s Club Keno, on her very first try.
Keathley matched nine of the 20 numbers drawn in Club Keno draw 2468174. Her easy pick numbers were 02, 04, 14, 16, 23, 25, 62, 68, and 76. She bought her ticket at Murphy’s Bar, located on East Northern Avenue in Barryton, about 30 miles northwest of Mount Pleasant.
“I play Club Keno often, but I had never played The Jack before,” Keathley said. “I decided to add it that day because the jackpot was high, and I wanted to try something new.”
After purchasing her ticket, she noticed the jackpot had reset to $10,000, meaning someone had just won. “We were in a group, and they scanned their tickets first. I scanned mine last, and it showed $412,171! It was shocking and surreal because I usually don’t feel very lucky.”
Keathley recently claimed her prize at Lottery headquarters. She plans to use the money to pay bills and save the rest.
The Jack is a $1 add-on to Club Keno. Players receive nine easy pick numbers to match against the 20 drawn numbers. Prizes range from $1 up to the jackpot, which starts at $10,000 and grows until won. To claim the jackpot, players must match all nine numbers.
