DALTON, Ga. — A Georgia lottery player struck it lucky with a $50,000 Powerball prize after matching four winning numbers and the Powerball in the April 21 drawing. The player, who came close to winning the $139 million jackpot, purchased the ticket at a Pilot Travel Center in Dalton, located near the Georgia-Tennessee state line, according to Georgia Lottery officials.
The winning Powerball numbers from the April 21 drawing were 4-33-45-46-51, with the Powerball number 25. The Power Play multiplier was 3x. While no one won the grand prize, the jackpot increased to an estimated $151 million for the next drawing on April 23.
Although there were no $2 million or $1 million winners, the drawing results were still notable for many. The most recent Powerball jackpot win occurred on March 29, when a California player matched all six numbers to win a massive $527 million. The cash value of that prize was $243.8 million.
Lottery officials remind players that winners in Georgia have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes. They also encourage players to sign the back of their tickets to protect their winnings.
Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The game is drawn three times a week—on Saturdays, Mondays, and Wednesdays—at 10:59 p.m. ET. Drawings can also be streamed online. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292,201,338.
