A Lenawee County man won $300,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Safe Cracker Cashword instant game after randomly picking the ticket at a store.
The 58-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, said, “I play many instant games, and Safe Cracker Cashword was the one I picked randomly that day. After scratching the barcode and scanning the ticket, I got a message to file a claim at the Lottery office. Then I played the game.”
He added, “I couldn’t believe it when I found 10 words and won $300,000! It was an amazing feeling.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Busch’s, located at 1450 West Chicago Boulevard in Tecumseh, about 30 miles southwest of Ann Arbor. The winner recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the prize. He plans to invest the money.
Since its launch in December, players have won more than $14 million playing Safe Cracker Cashword. Each $5 ticket offers prizes from $5 up to $300,000. More than $21 million in prizes remain, including two $300,000 top prizes and 92 prizes of $1,000.
