An Arkansas man has claimed the largest lottery jackpot in the state’s history, and he found out about his $5 million prize in a very modern way.
Kevin S., the lucky winner, bought his ticket through the online platform Lotto.com. He said he hadn’t slept for days after learning he hit the jackpot.
“I like that Lotto.com sends notifications when you win, no matter the amount,” Kevin said. “I found myself forgetting to check my tickets.”
Though the win is life-changing, he won’t get to keep the full amount. Federal taxes will claim 24% of the prize, while Arkansas state taxes will take an additional 7%.
After taxes, Kevin still plans to use his winnings wisely. He said he will pay off his mortgage and other bills, send his son to his “dream school” in Louisville, and save money for his new grandchild.
“I’m definitely going to put something away for the grandkid,” he added.Kevin admitted he was skeptical at first but confirmed the win after receiving notification from Lotto.com. He praised the platform for its ease of use and helpful alerts.
His win came after several months with no top prize claimed in the Arkansas Lotto. The Arkansas Lotto jackpot starts at $250,000 and increases with each drawing until someone wins. Players select six numbers from 1 to 40, and matching all six wins the jackpot.
