Genesee County Woman Wins $3 Million on Michigan Mega Millions

by Nancy

A lucky hunch led Pamela Dietrich of Linden, Genesee County, to win $3 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s Mega Millions game.

“I don’t play Mega Millions all the time, but I felt like playing this drawing,” Dietrich said. “I logged into my Lottery account and bought a ticket. The next morning, I got an email about a prize. I could hardly believe it was true when I saw I won $3 million! I called the Lottery Monday morning to confirm and set up my claim appointment. It still feels unreal.”

Dietrich, 58, matched the five white balls in the April 11 drawing—15, 37, 38, 56, and 58—to win $1 million. Her prize was tripled to $3 million thanks to the game’s multiplier. She bought the ticket online at MichiganLottery.com.

Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli congratulated Dietrich, saying she is the first Michigan player to win a million-dollar prize on the new Mega Millions game. The game offers bigger prizes at every level, better jackpot odds, larger starting jackpots, and faster-growing jackpots, making it popular with players.

Dietrich recently claimed her prize at Lottery headquarters. She plans to remodel her home, pay off her vehicle, and save the rest of the money.
