An Oceana County woman turned a $100 online win into a $1 million prize playing the Michigan Lottery’s Millionaire Raffle game. The 63-year-old, who chose to remain anonymous, bought her winning ticket online.
“I won $100 on an online game, so I used some of it to buy Powerball and Mega Millions tickets,” the woman said. “While I was purchasing those, I saw the Millionaire Raffle game and thought, ‘Why not?’ and bought one ticket.”
She forgot about the raffle ticket until she received an email from the Lottery about claiming her prize. “I didn’t believe it when I logged into my account and saw a $1 million prize. I logged out and back in several times, and the prize was still there, so I knew it had to be real. I am still trying to process it!” she added.
Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli said, “This lucky player’s spontaneous Millionaire Raffle ticket purchase led to a huge $1 million win. Our online platform offers many ways to play and win, from instant games to raffles.”
The woman recently claimed her prize at the Michigan Lottery headquarters. She plans to save the money.
The Millionaire Raffle is an auto-renewing game that launched on December 10. It offers 100,000 tickets per drawing, with one $1 million top prize and 100 $1,000 prizes. Once all tickets are sold, the drawing occurs, and new tickets are available for purchase.
