An Oakland County man was in for a big surprise when he won the $429,249 Fantasy 5 jackpot on April Fools’ Day. The 63-year-old, who chose to remain anonymous, matched the numbers 09-14-21-35-36 in the April 1 drawing.
The lucky winner purchased his ticket online . He has been a regular Lottery player, enjoying both in-store and online games.
“I bought my Fantasy 5 ticket on April 1, but didn’t check the numbers until the next day,” the player said. “When I saw that I’d won, I thought it was an April Fools’ joke. I was shocked, but when I called the Lottery, I found out the prize was real. I was thrilled!”
The winner recently claimed his prize at Lottery headquarters. He plans to use the money to pay off bills and buy his wife a new car.
Fantasy 5 tickets cost just $1 per play. Players can add EZmatch for $1 more for a chance to win up to $500 instantly, or add Double Play for another $1 to get a second chance at winning up to $110,000 in the nightly drawing. The game’s jackpot starts at $100,000.
