Michigan Lottery Offices to Close June 19 for Juneteenth Holiday

by Nancy

In honor of the Juneteenth holiday, the Michigan Lottery has announced that its headquarters in Lansing and all regional offices across the state will be closed on Wednesday, June 19. This includes locations in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Livonia, Saginaw, and Sterling Heights.

Although the offices will be closed for the day, all regularly scheduled lottery drawings will still take place as planned on June 19. Players can continue to purchase tickets and check results as usual.

Bank claim centers that partner with the Michigan Lottery may remain open during their regular hours on Wednesday. However, they will not be able to process any Lottery claims while the official offices are closed. This is because claim processing requires direct coordination with Lottery headquarters, which will not be staffed during the holiday.

All Michigan Lottery offices are set to reopen on Thursday, June 20, at 7:45 a.m., resuming normal business operations.

Juneteenth, which marks the end of slavery in the United States, became a federal holiday in 2021 and is increasingly recognized by state agencies and businesses across the country. The Michigan Lottery joins other state offices in observing this important day of reflection and celebration.
