A Wayne County man won the $439,714 Fantasy 5 jackpot after his special set of numbers appeared on the screen while he was watching TV. The 70-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, matched the numbers 09-13-15-24-30 in the October 27 drawing.
He purchased the winning ticket at Kennedy Liquor Store III, located at 13344 West 7 Mile Road in Detroit.
“I play a combination of numbers based on special dates,” the winner explained. “When the winning numbers appeared on TV, I recognized them right away and started shouting to my wife, ‘We won! We won!'”
The man plans to use his prize money to support charities, help others, and save the rest.
Each Fantasy 5 ticket costs $1. Players can also add EZmatch for an additional $1 to win up to $500 instantly, or Double Play for another $1 to have a second chance at winning up to $110,000 in the nightly drawing. The Fantasy 5 jackpot starts at $100,000.
