Illinois Lottery officials are urging players to check their tickets, as a $1.1 million Lucky Day Lotto prize from September 8, 2024, remains unclaimed.
The winning ticket was purchased at a liquor store in Chicago. Under state rules, the prize must be claimed within one year of the draw date. If the winner does not come forward by September 8, 2025, the money will be forfeited.
The Illinois Lottery regularly faces the challenge of tracking down winners who have not claimed large prizes. There are various reasons why players may miss out, including lost tickets or simple forgetfulness.
In addition to the $1.1 million jackpot, several other Lucky Day Lotto prizes are still waiting to be claimed:
- $550,015, drawn on April 27, 2025, bought at a Circle K in Streator
- $300,000, drawn on May 14, purchased in Evanston
- $250,000, drawn on May 26, bought in Glenview
Players have one year from each draw date to claim their winnings.
Other Illinois Lottery games also have unclaimed prizes. A Powerball ticket worth $200,000, bought in Dolton, remains unclaimed from the November 30, 2024, drawing. It is the second-oldest outstanding ticket behind the $1.1 million Lucky Day Lotto prize.
A $125,000 Pick 4 ticket, drawn on May 29 and purchased at a 7-Eleven in Chicago, is also still unclaimed.
In total, there are 10 open lottery games in Illinois with unclaimed prizes. The Illinois Lottery encourages all players to carefully check their tickets and visit the official website to view current winning numbers and deadlines.
