A Wixom man is celebrating a $105,000 Fantasy 5 jackpot after playing the same set of numbers each week.
Matthew Mudie, 61, matched the winning numbers—01-08-10-16-31—during the Nov. 15 drawing. He purchased his winning ticket at Benstein Market in Walled Lake.
“I play the same set of numbers, which are special dates, every Monday for the entire week,” Mudie said. “The morning after the drawing, I scanned my ticket with the Lottery app and couldn’t believe I had won the jackpot!”
Mudie also shared that his wife had won $30,000 on a pull-tabs ticket a few years ago and had always challenged him to win more. “Well, that day has finally come!” he said.
Mudie recently visited Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. He plans to use his winnings for home improvements and to pay off bills.
Each Fantasy 5 ticket costs $1, and for an additional $1 per play, players can add EZmatch for a chance to win up to $500 instantly, or Double Play for a second chance at winning up to $110,000 in a nightly drawing. Fantasy 5 jackpots start at $100,000.
