A Monroe County woman experienced a shock when she won $500,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Fantastic 5’s instant game.
The 62-year-old player, who chose to stay anonymous, said she bought the ticket after checking the Michigan Lottery website. “I saw that all three top prizes in Fantastic 5’s were still unclaimed, so I decided to buy a ticket,” she said. The next morning, while drinking coffee before work, she scratched the ticket and realized she had won half a million dollars. “I think I turned green! My husband and I could hardly believe it.”
She purchased the winning ticket at Tony’s Country Store on Secor Road in Lambertville, about 40 miles south of Ann Arbor. She recently claimed her prize at Lottery headquarters. She plans to use the money to pay bills and save the rest.
Since launching in July 2024, the Fantastic 5’s game has paid out more than $12 million in winnings. Tickets cost $5 each and offer prizes from $5 to $500,000. Over $19 million in prizes remain, including two top prizes of $500,000, six prizes of $10,000, and thirteen prizes of $2,000.
In 2024, Michigan Lottery players have won nearly $1.8 billion on instant games. Tickets can be purchased at retailers across the state.
