A lucky ticket purchased in Berkeley has won the Fantasy 5 jackpot worth $349,181. The winning ticket was bought at the 7-Eleven on Telegraph Avenue near Parker Street.
The odds of matching all five numbers in the Fantasy 5 game are 1 in 575,757, according to the California State Lottery.
It remains unclear whether the winner has come forward. A lottery spokesperson said the winner’s identity would not be disclosed until the prize is officially claimed, a process that can take 6 to 8 weeks or more.
Fantasy 5 is drawn daily. Players select five numbers between 1 and 39 or opt for a “quick pick” to have the numbers randomly selected. Winners have 180 days from the draw date to claim their prize.
The jackpot starts between $60,000 and $80,000, and grows if no winner is found. If multiple winners claim the top prize, the jackpot is split equally among them.
The jackpot for Monday’s drawing, which had no winner, was $75,000. Drawings take place after ticket sales close at 6:30 p.m. each day.
