Colorado Powerball Winner Has Days Left to Claim $2 Million Prize

by Nancy

A winning Powerball ticket worth $2 million remains unclaimed in Colorado, and time is running out for the mystery winner to step forward. The ticket, purchased on December 16, 2024, at the Safeway Fuel Mini C-2612 in Aurora, matched five white balls and included the Power Play option, doubling the usual $1 million second-tier prize.

The winner has until June 14 to claim the life-changing amount. If not, the money will be returned to the Colorado Lottery’s proceeds fund.

“Colorado has thousands of unclaimed prizes every year,” the Colorado Lottery stated on its website. “Most are for small amounts, but we try to alert the public when a large prize is about to expire.”

Under state rules, lottery winners have 180 days from the draw date to collect their prize. With that deadline fast approaching, officials are urging all Powerball players to check old tickets, coat pockets, glove compartments, and junk drawers.

The $2 million prize can be claimed in person at a lottery office, online, or by mailing in the signed ticket with a claim form.

This unclaimed ticket is part of a concerning trend across the country. In Louisiana, a $50,000 Powerball prize from the same December 16 draw is also set to expire on June 14. The winning ticket was purchased at Meraux Food Store. That player matched four white balls and the Powerball but didn’t choose the Power Play option, missing a chance to double the prize.

Meanwhile, in Illinois, lottery officials are still searching for the holder of a $1.1 million Lucky Day Lotto ticket sold in Chicago in September 2024. That ticket must be claimed by early September 2025.

Not every story ends in mystery. In Minnesota, a North 5 ticket worth $276,186 was recently claimed. It had been sold at The Corner Store in Inver Grove Heights on May 31.

As the June 14 deadline nears, Colorado officials are making a final push to find the rightful owner of the $2 million prize. The message is simple: check your tickets now—before it’s too late.
