Mega Millions players in Texas are being urged to check their tickets, as a $2 million prize remains unclaimed.
The winning ticket was bought before the draw on Friday at Ballpark Beverage, a convenience store in Arlington, about 17 miles from Dallas. The player matched five numbers, just one digit short of the jackpot.
The odds of winning this prize were about 1 in 12.6 million.On the draw day, the Megaplier option was 2. Players who paid an extra $1 for the Megaplier saw their non-jackpot prizes doubled.The Texas winner has 180 days from the draw date to claim the prize. After that, the prize will expire.The jackpot itself was not won and has rolled over to $44 million. Its estimated cash value is $19.5 million.
Earlier this year, a player in Arizona won the Mega Millions jackpot. On January 17, they claimed a $112 million prize, with a cash value of $49.95 million.
This was Arizona’s first Mega Millions jackpot win since 2021. The state has been part of Mega Millions since 2010 and has had three jackpot winners.
The Arizona winner must decide whether to take a lump sum payout, which is less than half the jackpot, or receive annual payments known as an annuity.Arizona winners also have 180 days to claim their prize.
