Lenawee County Man Wins $300K on Random Lottery Ticket Pick

by Nancy

A Lenawee County man won $300,000 after randomly choosing a Safe Cracker Cashword instant game ticket while shopping.

The 58-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, said he often plays different instant games. On this occasion, he picked Safe Cracker Cashword by chance.

“I scratched the barcode and scanned the ticket. When I saw a message to file a claim at the Lottery office, I played the game fully and realized I had revealed 10 words,” he said. “I couldn’t believe it—it was a great feeling!”

He purchased the winning $5 ticket at Busch’s, located at 1450 West Chicago Boulevard in Tecumseh, about 30 miles southwest of Ann Arbor. He recently visited Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim his prize and plans to invest the money.

The Safe Cracker Cashword game launched in December. So far, players have won over $14 million. Each ticket costs $5 and offers prizes from $5 to $300,000. More than $21 million in prizes remain, including two $300,000 top prizes and 92 prizes worth $1,000.

In 2024, Michigan Lottery players won nearly $1.8 billion through instant games, which are available at retailers statewide.
