Powerball Jackpot Reaches $65 Million After Cinco de Mayo Drawing

by Nancy

Could a $2 Powerball ticket make you a multimillionaire before Mother’s Day? As the lottery saying goes, “It could happen to you.”

After no one matched all five numbers plus the Powerball in the Monday, May 5, drawing, the jackpot grew from $54 million to $65 million for the Wednesday, May 7, drawing. The cash option for the jackpot is estimated at $29.9 million.

While there was no winner for the Cinco de Mayo Powerball, a ticket from Puerto Rico won $2 million by matching five numbers plus the Power Play. The Powerball numbers for Wednesday, May 7, were 14, 15, 30, 40, 59, with a Powerball of 20 and a 3x Power Play multiplier. This resulted in another rollover, bringing the jackpot to $37.7 million.

For reference, the winning numbers for the May 5 Cinco de Mayo drawing were 16, 34, 40, 45, 66, with a Powerball of 19 and a 2x Power Play multiplier.

While Cinco de Mayo celebrates Mexican culture and traditions, the next big occasion is Mother’s Day, on Sunday, May 11. Powerball tickets are available for $2 each.
