A Barry County woman turned a losing ticket into a $100,000 prize through the Michigan Lottery’s $300,000,000 Extraordinaire second chance game.
The 80-year-old winner, who chose to stay anonymous, was randomly selected in a drawing held on May 6. She entered the giveaway by scanning non-winning $300,000,000 Extraordinaire tickets using the Michigan Lottery app.
“I scanned all my non-winning tickets for second chance entries, but I never thought I would win,” she said. “When the Lottery called to tell me I won $100,000, I thought it was a scam. Later, I got an email from the Lottery confirming the prize, and I knew it was real. Winning is a blessing and will give me a nice financial cushion.”
The winner recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim her prize. She plans to save the money.
The May 6 drawing was the 10th and final $300,000,000 Extraordinaire second chance drawing. Each drawing awarded two prizes of $100,000.
