$3M Mega Millions Prize Remains Unclaimed in Connecticut

by Nancy

A Mega Millions player in Connecticut may be unaware they are now a multimillionaire, with a winning $3 million ticket still unclaimed.

According to lottery officials, the lucky ticket was purchased for the November 8, 2024, drawing and matched five white ball numbers: 25, 28, 42, 64, and 69. While it missed the gold Mega Ball (19), the optional Megaplier tripled the standard $1 million prize to $3 million.

The winning ticket was sold at a Cumberland Farms convenience store on West Street in Southington. The winner has until May 7, 2025, to claim the prize. If left unclaimed, the money will be returned to the state for use in lottery-funded programs.

Officials are urging players to check any tickets purchased around that date. The store, a popular local stop for snacks and coffee, may now also be known as the place that sold a life-changing lottery ticket.

Mega Millions tickets cost $2, with drawings held every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. ET. Players choose five numbers between 1 and 70, plus one Mega Ball between 1 and 25. The Megaplier, available for an extra dollar, can increase non-jackpot prizes by up to five times.

To claim a large prize like this, the winner will likely need to visit a claim center or submit paperwork by mail. Connecticut Lottery officials also remind players to sign the back of their tickets to establish ownership. The winner’s identity remains a mystery — but the countdown to claim the $3 million is underway.
