Meath Man Wins €127,814 with First-Ever EuroMillions Quick Pick

by Nancy

A man from Meath has claimed a €127,814 prize after matching five numbers in the EuroMillions draw on April 15.

The winning Quick Pick ticket was bought at Mace, Drummond Magheracloone, Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan.

Speaking from National Lottery Headquarters, the lucky winner shared the unusual twist behind his win.

“This is a funny one because I’ve been playing my own numbers in the EuroMillions for years, and this is the only time I’ve bought a Quick Pick – and now look!” he said with a laugh.

He explained that he was away on a golf trip the weekend of the draw and had left the ticket in his car at home.

“The family told me someone in Monaghan had won, but I couldn’t check until I got home. It was the first thing I did when I arrived – and sure enough, no one believed me! I’ve joked about winning so many times that they didn’t take me seriously,” he added.

The Meath man now plans to alternate between his regular numbers and Quick Picks.

When asked what he would do with the money, he first said, “I haven’t a clue,” but later decided to put the prize towards a family holiday.
