Two Powerball players in Arkansas won big over Labor Day Weekend but have not yet claimed their prizes. Both winners had paid an extra $1 for the Power Play feature, which multiplies prizes by two, three, four, five, or ten times.
The first winner bought their ticket at a Kum & Go gas station in Jonesboro, about two hours north of Little Rock. This player matched four of the five winning numbers from the August 31 drawing—4, 34, 35, 38, and 69—with the Powerball number 19. Normally, matching four numbers would win $50,000, but the Power Play doubled the prize to $100,000.
A few days later, on September 2, another player from Conway, just 30 minutes from Little Rock, won $150,000. This winner bought their ticket at a Doublebees convenience store. They matched four of five numbers—8, 42, 46, 48, and 53—with the Powerball 22. Thanks to the Power Play, their prize tripled.
Powerball is a national game, but how long winners have to claim prizes varies by state. In Arkansas, winners have 180 days to claim their cash.
Several other Powerball prizes remain unclaimed across the country. One notable prize is a $2,462,356 jackpot from a March drawing in California. The winning ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven in Sun Valley, just north of Los Angeles. The winning numbers were 6, 23, 25, 34, and 51, with the Powerball 3.
Carolyn Becker, deputy director of public affairs for the California Lottery, told The U.S. Sun that no one has claimed the prize yet. The deadline to claim it is September 19.
In Pennsylvania, a $1 million Powerball prize from last year is also still unclaimed. The winning ticket was purchased at the United Food Market in Philadelphia on October 4. Pennsylvania gives winners one full year to claim their prize, so this deadline approaches soon.
Recently, a Powerball player claimed a $10 million prize but lost $3.5 million to taxes immediately.Meanwhile, a $1 million Mega Millions prize remains unclaimed and up for grabs.
