MANITOWOC, Wis. — A Powerball player who bought a ticket at a liquor store in Manitowoc is still sitting on a $50,000 prize—and time is running out to claim it.
The winning ticket matched four of the five main numbers—1, 2, 3, 57, 59—plus the Powerball, which was 9, in the April 30, 2025 drawing. According to Wisconsin Lottery rules, the winner has 180 days to claim their prize, meaning the deadline is October 27, 2025.
Officials are urging the mystery winner to step forward as soon as possible. The ticket was purchased through the Wisconsin Lottery, and players can claim winnings by visiting a lottery office or contacting the lottery team directly.
This $50,000 win is one of 10 such prizes awarded in Wisconsin in 2025, according to a post by the official state lottery account on X (formerly Twitter). While the top Powerball jackpot often steals headlines, smaller wins like this still represent life-changing amounts.
Odds of winning the $50,000 Powerball prize are 1 in 913,130, which is far more achievable than the 1 in 292 million odds of hitting the jackpot. For the upcoming Saturday drawing, the Powerball jackpot is estimated at $44 million.
Across the country, more unclaimed tickets remain. In Illinois, officials are also trying to locate the holder of a $1 million Powerball ticket purchased in Melrose Park for the December 21, 2024 draw. If no claim is made before the deadline, the prize will expire and the money will be forfeited.
Winners should also consider how they want to receive their prize—either as a lump sum or in annuity payments over time. A lump sum means paying taxes up front at a higher rate, while annuity spreads both the payments and tax burden over several years.Lottery officials stress the importance of checking your tickets and claiming your prize before it’s too late.
