The Lotto Powerball jackpot will climb again after no one claimed tonight’s $10 million prize, pushing the jackpot higher for Wednesday’s draw.
Tonight’s winning numbers were 4, 14, 17, 22, 27, and 35. The bonus ball was 31, and the Powerball number was 6.
Although the top prize went unclaimed, two players each won $500,000 by matching the first division numbers. These wins followed another first division split on Wednesday, where tickets sold at Quickstop Taihape and online through MyLotto each claimed $500,000. Last Saturday, three players also shared the $1 million division one prize.
Tonight’s rollover follows a string of significant Powerball wins. Just two weeks ago, a couple from the upper North Island won $23.3 million from a midweek draw. They bought their ticket online and described the experience as surreal.
“We’re both shocked to our core,” the couple said after discovering they had won. “It’s going to take a while to sink in.”
After checking their ticket, the man told his wife, who initially didn’t believe him until he showed her the results. They celebrated with a quiet dinner of fish and chips on the beach, reflecting on how the win would impact their family.
“We live a simple life and will continue to – but what we can now do for our children, and our grandchildren – that’s what’s life-changing,” they said.
Their total prize included $23 million from Powerball and $333,333 from a shared first division win on April 23. It was the largest Powerball prize since December 2024, when a New Plymouth man also won $23.3 million.
This year has seen major Powerball wins across New Zealand. In January, a Wellington player won $7 million, while someone in Taranaki took home $8.3 million in the same month.
