Austrian Player Wins Record €250M EuroMillions Jackpot

by Nancy

An Austrian lottery player has claimed the biggest EuroMillions jackpot ever awarded—€250 million (around £209.3 million)—with a ticket that cost just €10, according to Austria’s Kronen Zeitung newspaper.

The historic win was confirmed by Allwyn, the National Lottery operator, which said the prize is the largest in EuroMillions history. The winning numbers from Friday night’s draw were 10, 21, 30, 42, and 45, with Lucky Stars 01 and 09.

This record-breaking jackpot surpasses the previous highest win by a UK ticket-holder, who claimed £195 million on July 19, 2022. No one had won the €182 million jackpot earlier in the week, causing the prize to roll over into Friday’s draw.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at Allwyn, had earlier predicted that the draw could produce a historic result. “Get your tickets early as there is an astounding estimated jackpot of £202 million up for grabs,” he said. “A single UK winner of this jaw-dropping prize would be crowned The National Lottery’s biggest winner of all time.”

The UK has already seen two EuroMillions jackpot winners this year. One claimed £83 million in January, while another took home £65 million just last month.

Friday’s win now tops all previous jackpots, marking a major moment for the lottery and for the lucky Austrian who is now hundreds of millions of euros richer.
